Breaking the world around me down to a series of multicoloured shapes…with Candy there are two separate designs, The multicoloured shapes and the lattice are at odds. With Lobby the colours are meant to be random and undefined in some places to suggest that there is something hidden behind the lattice. Mountain Sunrise is a more defined landscape simplified to the point that it is a suggestion of a landscape, in this piece the lattice clearly defines the coloured shapes.
I did this painting after walking past a window and seeing reflections on a big TV screen through the window that I thought looked interesting. I was interested in the angles created by the flat screen mounted on the wall.
This is a painting that I did from a photograph taken by my friend Keana. He uses a technique that makes stationary objects appear to be moving like a time lapse photo. he comissioned this large painting from me. Below is a photograph of the painting in Keana’s apartment (he has clouds mounted on the ceiling).
